The Power of Gems and Charms
Geo H Bratley
Geo Bratley's work here compiles dozens of secondary sources into what amounts to a substantial folkloric study of the usage of physical icons in an occult context. This goes far beyond good luck charms and simplistic symbols, and discusses the phenomenon of "mascottes" in its era, the use of bones and holy relics, birth stones, flags, and much more. Well written with numerous quotes, it is one of the best works on the subject available even now more than a century after its manufacture.
