For those of us that believe in Christ and having a relationship with Christ, prayer is essential. We pray to God as a way to communicate because communication is key to the success of any relationship. Your relationship with God is strengthened through your ability to pray your heart's desires to Him. One may ask why pray if God already knows? The answer is simple. If you never say anything, your desires go unacknowledged and ignored. Yes, God knows the desires of your heart but you must talk to God to let Him know that you care enough to acknowledge Him. Prayer is your way of acknowledging a power that is much greater than yourself. When you pray, you become very small in the grand scheme of things. Prayer is what allows God to not just know but to hear what you need from Him.
