The mystical animals lived in an invisible world within our own. Long ago, the veil between the two worlds was broken, and many of the mystical animals wandered into our world, unseen by most except a few individuals with exceptional talents called Initiates. The Initiates have ever since hunted the mystical animals for personal gain, for each mystical animal is responsible for balancing the forces of the world, light and dark, fortune and misfortune, wealth and poverty, and so on. The Pookas were ancient creatures who traveled through time and space to be born at a given point in time and place with a specific mission. Once born at a time and place, the Pookas are no longer able to time travel; however, they are trusted with the safety and protection of the mystical animals of ancient times.
