The Christmas Event
Ivan Moorhouse
Christmas has been celebrated around the world for centuries. It is generally accepted as a pivotal break in the western calendar and usually associated with family gatherings, retail profusion and merrymaking. Besides presenting the biblical account of the Christmas story in chronological order as a seamless narrative, this book serves to provide the reader with a brief explanation of the history, theology and ecclesiastical development of the event. Â e manner in which Christmas is celebrated in different parts of the world is also included to capture some of the rich diversity of a religious festival held dear to so many.
