For many, Edisto is a little slice of heaven - live oaks festooned with Spanish moss, winding waterways, and crashing surf. Yet, the waterways are pathways for privateers, smugglers and gunboats. The area was a battleground for the Yemassee War. One of the original members of the Methodist Church in America taught the doctrine in Edisto.
