A wild dog bayed somewhere out in the gloom. She tried to scream, but her throat was raw with shrieking; only a dry croak would come out, ?Help me, help me, help me?? ?from ?The Star Beast.? Included are the great Anderson novelettes and short stories: THE STAR BEAST, THE NEST, LORD OF A THOUSAND SUNS, THE LONG RETURN, EARTHMAN, BEWARE!, TERMINAL QUEST, WORLD OF THE MAD, SENTIMENT, INC., DUEL ON SYRTIS, and THE VALOR OF CAPPEN VARRA. Poul Anderson was born in 1926 to Scandinavian parents living in Bristol, PA., Poul was the recipient of numerous accolades throughout his lifetime including seven Hugo and three Nebula awards. It?s interesting to note that Anderson received his B. A. in physics with honors, but upon graduating went directly into the field of free-lance writing, never putting his degree to practical use. The world can count its blessings for his decision. He continued writing up until his death in 2001, all the while collecting distinction for his timeless resume of classic fiction.
