Author Lakisha Cornell's oldest son was born on leap day and she is often asked when her family celebrates it. When Cornell researched the subject, she found there weren't many references that would appeal to children. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, and raised in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Cornell works in the retail industry and now lives with her family near Philadelphia. She is inspired by the writing of Terry McMillan.
