Karen Mel was born in the islands, migrated to the US as a little girl and was raised in the Big Apple. Now living down south, this country life is far from what she is accustomed to. The rhythm of her work shifted from a bit of a fast pace, Big Apple lifestyle to a slow pace, as life in the country moves in slow motion. The one thing that did not change is her love for writing. She is ecstatic to share her journey through life as it contains a colorful and meaningful timeline. Karen's writing is a relatable nonfiction acknowledgment of life. Hidden Words Out The Closet is a collection of poems that expresses an art of words with rhythm and lyrics that will keep you wanting to read more. It is a deep communication about life, love, pleasure and pain. Karen's passion for poetry evoked her feelings and thoughts to start sharing with the world all the experiences she have gone through, thus far. From life's bumpy roads, love, family, happiness, sadness, denial, pleasure, hope, dealing with racism and culture. She tends to think with a poetical mindset as it helps her to cope with the many obstacles that come her way. Some of the poems will have the date and time, as it is a way of measuring her growth.
