Alicia is about to learn that no good deed goes unpunished. Unknown to her, Alicia's mother Faye has been captured by a descendent of the very soldier she had defended the gypsies against so long ago. He is determined to avenge his great uncle's death, not by harming Faye, but by obliterating the last of the great conjurers in one fell swoop.



Alicia is forced to travel once more in an attempt to save her mother, but this time Matthew is able to join her. The discovery of his own abilities is something new for Matthew, and although they frighten him, he is willing to do whatever it takes to protect Alicia. Alicia has no idea that she is playing directly into the hands of her mother's captor. He knows that she will travel in order to save her mother, and it is exactly what he is waiting for. Alicia finds herself trapped in energetic form in this vicious man's basement. She feels as if she is out of options, and that there really is no way out of this situation, at least not with everyone safe. She is willing to give her own life to save her mother, but she cannot sacrifice Matthew was well. As the two struggle to save Faye, they have no idea that a massive water spout has been born in the middle of the lake their vulnerable bodies are knelt beside. With no way to rouse the two teens from their meditative state, those around them are left to helplessly watch as the massive water spout approaches them.



Alicia is forced to take a big risk in order to save her mother and set them all free. She has no idea what the consequences of her risk will be, as she draws energy from the unborn child in her mother's womb in an attempt to save them all. In the middle of all of the tragedy and tension one man will be forced to walk away from them all, just as another life is set to join the family. When Alicia's little brother is born she notices, just as everyone else does, that he is not like other infants. Only Alicia knows why that might be. She is left to wonder if her drawing energy from her baby brother when he was still growing in their mother's womb was the cause of his inability to make a sound. Left with only herself to blame Alicia realizes her abilities are much more dangerous than she could have ever imagined.

Just as she has traveled to the past and changed the present, she now knows that changing the present can permanently alter the future, the only aspect of her life that will permanently remain a mystery. With Matthew at her side she can only hope that the consequences of her actions will not be as devastating as she anticipates.
