There is nothing so unpredictable as a seemingly predictable life. When you dare to wander off the normal path you meet both evil and loving people and if you are lucky enough will live to tell the story. This memoir relates the events of myself as a young girl and young woman coming of age in the 1960's and 70's. Abuse from strangers, relatives, and eventually even myself were the price to be paid for being a free spirit. Ultimately, I became a young woman desperately searching for my identity as a free woman in an unforgiving and violent world. I learned to cope by being stubborn enough to not allow crimes from the first eighteen years of my life and other events to define me. You can make the best of plans, have the best of family, and still run into bad luck. You have to hold onto the good moments in life and hope you have enough 'quarters' in the game of life to keep playing.
