The McDugal family had been living on the Current River since 1834 and when the Ozark National Scenic Riverways formed around them, they stayed, secluded and mysterious, with no electricity and no phones. Locally everyone had heard stories about what happened if anyone messed with them. But Mary-Beth McDonald had been out to the farm in the past with her father when he was asked to come preach in their church so she had no reservations about getting involved when they needed her help. She had no premonition of what she was going to find.
