Growing up in rural western Pennsylvania offered limited opportunities for the future but I fortunately enjoyed a satisfying engineering career. Three memorable events led to that outcome. The first resulted from a bicycle trip to visit a classmate who was not home so I visited another. Bill showed me his ham radio set and I was absolutely captivated. He graciously gave me a 1958 copy of The Radio Amateurs Handbook which taught me about vacuum tube electronics. A few years later the high school counselor suggested the engineering school at Youngstown State University as an alternative to an electronics technical school. My dad was ecstatic and took a second mortgage to pay for the first year. After graduation, I was drafted into the Army and sent to Fort Knox for boot camp. At Fort Knox, my Drill Sergeant introduced me to the gospel of Jesus Christ which caused me to ponder the supernatural in general and, years later, Divine creation in particular. I was taught evolution in biology and I believed it. Subsequent years of reading evolutionary and creation materials eventually led me to read Richard Dawkins' book The Blind Watchmaker. Publishing a book was not on my bucket list and my English teachers would surely scoff at the idea. This book began as a journal that evolved into an engineering report of sorts. It documents my learning experience from delving into the scientific merit of Darwinian evolution when juxtaposed with Divine creation.
