Susan
Ernest Oldmeadow
Set In England and in a coastal French village, a young lady of the gentry and her maid are seen together for the first time by a baron who is new to the area. He is smitten with one of the women, and in trying to identify the lady who has touched his heart, he finds that he has fallen in love with a ladies' maid named Susan! He begins a correspondence with her, and so begins this witty and romantic story. It is written as the diary of the gentlewoman who is by turns bewildered, angry, amused, witty and exasperated by the turmoil her maid's love letters cause.
