40 Days of Surrender Karen Marshall Jennings

When I became a Christian, I felt very close to my heavenly Father. We had an intense relationship. I hungered for His Word, spending many hours each day devouring the Scriptures. My desire was to know Him better. When it came to service, I wasn't sure where I belonged within the family of God. I wanted to serve, but I didn't know how He would use me. I volunteered at church but didn't feel as though I was doing enough. I continued to do what I could and waited to discover God's plan for me. Several years later, during my college years, God called me to serve Him. There was no doubt in my mind. I finally knew where I belonged. I dove right in, practicing my gift, and became fairly good at it. Then, I began listening to people instead of God. His perfect plan for me didn't make sense from a worldly perspective. To follow His plan would take faith, and mine was dwindling. I began to think I could handle everything by myself. My eyes didn't look to God for guidance anymore. The trust I had in Him faded. I tried to control my own destiny. It reached a point where I felt very far away from God. I didn't like that feeling. I wanted to be close again. As I prayed and read His Word, God showed me the significance of 40 days. He revealed things in His Word that lead me to take 40 days to surrender my will and trust in His plan once more. I had been heading in the wrong direction but when I gave Him control, He literally and miraculously turned me around. He changed my life! As you read my story, I pray that you will be inspired to take 40 days to seek God's will for your life and allow Him to take control. Your life will never be the same.
