I have lived in Lexington, Kentucky, for over fourteen years now, but prior to moving here, I lived in South Carolina for about nineteen years with my late husband and stepdaughter.

I did not attend college until I was thirty-eight, when I decided one day to go back to school, with my major being psychology. After my first year studying at the University of Kentucky extension college in my hometown, we (my late husband and myself) moved to South Carolina where I enrolled in the University of South Carolina, only to have to put that on hold when my late husband became ill. I had to go to work and take care of him and my stepdaughter.

It was during those two and a half years that I decided to write my book.
