I don't know what your morning is like, but mine could be better. There are shadow demons trying to get a foothold in this world, I'm in a city surrounded by savages, and one of my best friends is missing. On the bright side, it's not the worst day I've ever had. Let me introduce myself. I am the Shaper of Stone and Air. At least, that's what the people of Ironholt started calling me when they learned I could control the wind and create objects out of rocks. Others call me Outlander. They know I'm not from around here. They're right. This isn't my world. The last thing I remember about my earth is leaving work late one night. The next morning I awoke here, in a world of strange magic and deadly creatures. It might have been cool if something wasn't always trying to kill me. I'm really Devin Symms, college dropout, part-time bookstore clerk and last of the Shapers. Shapers are sort of like wizards without the spellbooks and long hours of study. They can control a single element just by thinking about it. Except for me, I can control two. I guess that's what happens when you have dueling spirits fight for possession of your body. Like I said, this isn't the worst day I've had, but it's still early. That could always change.
