Guide to Commercial Pipefitting is broken up into four sections: 1) Things to Know 2) Heating 3) Cooling 4) Sprinkler Basics Section 1 will highlight common methods of joining pipe, pipe data, air handler units, coils, radiant heat, baseboard heat, pipe hangers, etc. The information that will be covered in this section will further assist in understanding sections 2, 3, and 4 of this book. Section 2 will review steam boilers, hot water boilers, unit heaters, heat pump units, condensate tanks, and all the pipe trim that goes with it. Plate heat exchangers, shell-in-tube heat exchangers and other heat transfer sources are also described in detail. Section 3 will cover air conditioner units, cooling towers, chillers and all adjoining components. You will find answers to questions like - "What is the difference between chilled water and condenser water?" or "What is a water cooled condensing air conditioning unit, and how does it differ from an air cooled unit?" Section 4 will examine some of the basic methods used in preventing a fire in a commercial building. "What is a gravity tank?" "What is the difference between a wet pipe system and a dry pipe system?" "How do you identify the rating on a sprinkler head?" All of these questions are answered in Section 4.
