Richard Brinsley Sheridan was a British playwright best known for his comedies. Sheridan's plays are still widely performed today, especially The Rivals and The School for Scandal. The Rivals is a five-act play that is set in Bath, England, which was known for its high end fashion at the time. The play, which centers around romantic entanglements and false identities, is a classic comedy of manners. The School for Scandal is a satirical play that made fun of the London upper class society in the late 18th century.
