During the decade of the 1880s at least five children of Johann Hommel and Marianna Prinz immigrated to America from Oxhöft, Westpreußen, Preußen, Germany. They settled in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood around 32nd and Fox Street (now Throop Street). Maria Elisabeth and husband Józef Kamradt; Julianna and husband Józef Parchem; Marcianna and husband Wojciech Orzeszek and their brother Franz and his wife Elisabeth lived on the same block and attended St. Mary of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Thier sister Anna also settled in the same area but after marrying Paul Kaleth in 1887, moved 6.5 miles North to 1801 Hervey Street (near Dickens Ave and Honore Street today). The four siblings residing in Bridgeport, are at rest in Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois. Anna and her family are at rest in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, Illinois.
