Telling your children about the how to sustain them-selves through the critical challenges of life is like telling them about sex. We just never seem to get around to it. I suspect the reason we don't sit down with them is that we don't know what to say or how to say it. We give that part of their education to bible school or religious educators. In my own case, I don't think I did a very good job, but I did my best to stress the importance of free choice, yet tell my daughter that all choices are not of equal value.
