Beautiful but Broken Trecia Littles Haynes

Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30 In today's society we have allowed mankind to tell us what defines beauty and who we really are as a person. We are constantly bombarded by the media and other entertainment entities that try to set the standards for what true beauty is really about. Every time we turn on the television, listen to the radio or log onto social media, we are repetitively reminded about ways to improve our physical appearance or our body image as a whole. Media has done a very good job of helping women to wear a mask and cover up their insecurities instead of dealing with the deep rooted hidden issues that the enemy desires to keep trapped inside. Many of these issues started during the childhood stages. Society has ingrained in many of us that the way to overcome is to just mask the pain by looking like you are somebody else. Society has allowed us to accept that being half-naked and having our faces made up like a clown is okay. In reality when we take off the mask, we are still back in that confused state we started off with. Society has said that we must dress a certain way, live a certain way, associate with certain groups of people, and operate a certain way within the body of Christ and in society in order to be considered "beautiful." Society says we must have the designer clothing and designer handbags to be considered socially beautiful. Society states we must have the most expensive weave infused in our heads, drive the finest cars or live in the richest of homes. However, the word of God is so contrary to what we have been taught throughout our life span.
