Australia, like many democracies, is suffering from a structural stasis which is resulting in the rise of fringe parties. The major parties are out of touch, and our governance structure inhibits the development of rational, long term strategy. Radical change is needed ... and fast! We have too many layers of government, urgent reform of the parties is needed, and we need to split strategy formation and strategy implementation nationally.
