The McDowell Family tells the story of patriot, Nathaniel McDowell, who fought in the American Revolutionary War, and his descendants. This book traces the history of the family back to the early 1700s, in the lowlands of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the long Atlantic voyage to America. It covers their life in south central Pennsylvania, their long journey west over the Allegheny Mountains to western Pennsylvania in the wilderness near Fort Pitt, and their life in Washington County, as the children grew up. It also covers the migration of Nathaniel's descendants to Stark County, Ohio, then later to Cass County, Indiana, and to Williams County, Ohio.
