"NO ONE CAN SURVIVE THIS."Those were the first words the oncologist said to Bob, Linda's husband, after reviewing her CT scans. Bob had just met the oncologist in the hospital where Linda was having emergency surgery to install a filter to prevent dying from a blood clot. Starting with the diagnosis, continuing through treatment and hospice care, and ending in a memorial service, Bob's blog posts kept family and friends informed about Linda's struggle. They tell the story of her battle with lung cancer-the hopes and the realities; the emotional, physical, and practical challenges; and the importance of support from friends, coworkers, and family. The blog provided a way Bob to express and deal with his feelings and also tells the story of the family's initial shock; how they dealt with their grief; the intricacies of medical treatment, chemotherapy, and its side effects; and the progression to home care and finally to hospice care. What comes through clearly throughout the story is the love Linda and Bob shared and Linda's will to live.
