"The Big Game" is a book of stories and is a play on words. Men talk about so many things and when they hear the words "Big Game" it could be in reference to a sporting event, hunting, work, or just life in general. But the reality is that most men are just playing a "big game" with each other. In other words, men tend to talk about everything under the sun except the things that they really need to talk about and that really matter the most. Men tend to want to be independent and tough. They might get together with other guys and watch a football game, go hunting, grab a beer after work, kick back at a BBQ or maybe even do a Bible Study. But what do they really know about these other guys...and just as important, what do these other guys really know about them? How are the men who are closest to them helping them write a better story for their lives and how they helping others write a better story for theirs? Who in their circle of friends battles with pornography or anger? Who struggles with alcohol, drugs or gambling addictions? Who has committed adultery or struggles with sexual temptations? Who has been involved in an abortion and has never dealt with the psychological trauma that inevitably follows? Which of these guys has been through what they're dealing with and could be a source of help and encouragement? What incredible stories are a part of the lives of the men sitting all around them that they will never hear or learn about? Men need relationship with other men who will encourage them, and freely offer them their wisdom. In short, men need other men to help them write a better story for their lives. Men need other men who will help them find purpose and meaning for their life. These type of deep, close relationships are very different from what men can achieve with their spouse and the truth is that most men don't have even one such relationship. Hopefully this book will help you see the need to invest in the lives of other men and look for other men to invest in yours. When men come together it is then that they can make our world a little better place. "The Big Game" is not a book that men will want to read alone.
