The story of Tracy Monteith and Pastor Thomas Monteith, who share their life experience with mental illness, specifically Major Depression. Their story is shared in a unique format. Tracy openly shares her thoughts and feelings pre-diagnosis into adulthood in several vignettes. Thomas then shares what he is thinking and feeling during the same time frames. This parallel disclosure will help both those living with their own mental illness diagnosis and those who care for someone diagnosed or in the pre-diagnosis phase. Their story starts in their late teens, their dating relationship and continues into mid-life adulthood. Tracy and Tom also share their experiences within the faith community. They are able to share from the unique perspective as members and leaders in that community - their struggles, disappointments, encouragement, and hopes for the future in which the church invests in education and providing emotional, physical and spiritual support to those with mental health concerns. A study guide is included designed to promote understanding of mental illness. It can easily be used by individuals or small groups in an 8 session/chapter format.
