This book is based on the events in lives of Billy and Gracie from 1941-1968. It follows their journey from birth through their marriage. It's a chronicle of abuse, bullying, and homosexuality, with the story line focusing on the young couple's efforts to keep their family together. Gracie, young and naïve, has no understanding of the physical relationship between husband and wife. Billy, born to a teenage mother, abused and bullied as a child, is confused about his sexuality. After the birth of their daughter, and a difficult year of misunderstanding, and infidelity, they decide to stay together trusting that their love for each other is enough to see them through. Time, maturity, and secrets, may prove otherwise as this story unfolds.
