As a child, devoted Catholic Nancy Denkinger had a difficult time reconciling her own view of God with that of her church. She couldn't believe that the God she knew loved her wholly and unconditionally was the strict authoritarian she learned about in school. This small crisis of faith was the start of Nancy's spiritual journey of curiosity and questioning.

Then one day Nancy receives an unexpected invitation: help her friend Sheila run a cattle farm in rural Southside Virginia. Nancy loves animals but doesn't know the first thing about cows or farming. It doesn't take her long, however, to realize that she has found not only her calling but also a place that can fulfill her spiritually.
