Space exploration has reached the edges of the galactic cluster that is home to the Milky Way and is venturing beyond. Set 500 million years in the future, the story revolves around a mineral extractor, Klo, who traverses through space for mining asteroids and comets. Her lifelong dream is to be selected for one of the Explorer Missions. The Explorer Missions are humanity's final hope of finding a habitable planet before the death of the Sun. At a time when the entire species is facing a severe resource crunch, human beings have to choose between sustaining life on Earth or providing resources for the Explorer Missions.
