The content of this book is beyond the written history of Ceylon. I am going to ask more questions than volunteering plausible answers. The reason being for the reader to get engaged with those questions and try to solve the puzzles, as they were. For example if one investigates the edible fruits it amazes me, 90% of them are not local but imported by our association with the rest of the world for many centuries. The animal species are few in number except the birds. I often wonder why we do not have lions in spite of the mythical history of origin of our beings from lions. We do not have tigers but did have elephants in plenty in the historical past. The stock is fast diminishing due to man's activities and I have devoted few chapters to illustrate the habitat destruction of Ceylon and its effect on wild elephants. Have they migrated from Indian subcontinent, in the very long past due to its conducive climate and the rich flora? Certainly they did not evolve here? We haven't had mammoths artifacts or skeletons. We do not have fossils of dinosaurs. That brings me to a simple proposal that Ceylon like New Zealand, is relatively a new country or an island compared to the history of this planet.
