A man sets out to circumnavigate the Aegean Sea with his wife, but when they discover that they are lost at sea, they spend weeks trying to find their way home. They encounter different people who are in a similar situation but who appear to be from different time periods. Some of these people appear to have benign intentions while others do not. As the man and his wife try to find their way home, they try to immortalize their love by nurturing each other's hope. They learn that the infinite blue sea is a manifestation of a lost consciousness that is searching for a means to express itself and a place to call home. The consciousness manifests itself in a story that encompasses different times and places. That story shifts along with its characters' perception of the story's beginning, middle, and end. This consciousness allows the man and his wife to discover that love and hope transcend time and space. They learn that they must travel through time and memory in order for them to find their way home and for their love to transcend time and space. ""Sing now, Muse. Sing now of the story behind this blue infinity. Begin at whatever point you will: past, present, or future. Sing, Muse, of the story that seems without beginning or end. Your inspiration, Muse, will allow the story to continue in order to find an end behind its own beginning's end. Here I am again, thrust in the midst of change, holding on to what is left of who I will become. The wind blows in my hair as my heart thumps with memory and yearning and the sea takes one slow breath at a time. I am slowly becoming the person I never thought I could become. I like to take intermittent walks on the beach while thinking of how I will change, letting the thin sheet of air wafting across the ocean surface kiss my eyes. Arcs of shining white foam sweep across the shore, rhyming the sea's familiar rise and fall, and then moisten the sandy beach, nothing beyond it but shades of deep, impenetrable ocean blue."
