Set in a central California coastal town of Morro Bay, the story follows a fisherman, marine biologist, and a commercial diver as they discover a secret business of hunting sperm whales for their valuable teeth. The mysterious Morro Rock, desolate sand dunes, treacherous currents of the harbor channel, and quaint waterfront all play a role in their discoveries and their ultimate encounter, on the high seas, with a ruthless band of fisherman caught in the act of hunting a whale. They risk their boat and their lives to stop the attack, but the final judgement is left to a vengeful sperm whale in a harrowing encounter that echoed off the face of Morro Rock.
