Three movements scored for viola or violin, euphonium, and piano. 1. Sleepy Grass, in my day, was a popular recreational area near Cloudcroft, NM to the west and the ski area to the east. Many a winter day, when snow was plentiful, hundreds would clamor up this hill and tube or sled down. 2. Silver Lake is a small fishing lake and campground between Cloudcroft and Ruidoso. Very isolated and very serene in its setting, surrounded on all sides by wooded mountains, this is the ideal spot for fishing and stargazing. 3. The Inn is a honeymoon destination near Ruidoso, NM, at the foot of Sierra Blanca, the highest peak south of I-40 in the U. S. The Inn is a scene of both serenity and bustle, as the beauty of the mountains, lake, and clean air give way to the monotonous drone of slots, shows, and table games of the onsite casino. I wanted the contrast to be dynamic and almost competing in this final movement, as a decision is made between the din of society and a simple romantic walk along the shore. Score and parts, including both violin and viola, are included in this book.
