This is the second book on the Cambridge Annex trilogy. There was only one thing the discoverers of cheap space flight could do to keep themselves and their secret from every major power, every large energy supplier, and every manufacturer of transportation. That was to move it where none could get at it; into outer space. But the struggle to retain the rights to their discovery and their ability to use it as they wish is far from over. Earth industries cannot ignore the potential the chemical could bring them, were it theirs. No more than they can ignore the risk of someone else getting it. Taking the chemical into space has not ended the battle, just changed the way the battle is to be fought. The space-farers think they've won, and having risen from earth so quickly, they begin with precious little to sustain them in outer-space. They must begin to develop new skills and processes to handle their new life in the dangerous region of outer-space. Every day, every hour is a challenge as they learn how to live in the hostile environment. Meanwhile, the earth continue to find ways to bring them down. Blackmailing crew members, bribing them, threatening their loved ones, or simply throwing missiles at them; everything will be tried. They'll even go to the United Nations to claim they've broken international laws. Just as long as they get their hands on their method of propulsion. It's make or break for the space-farers. They must make alliances that don't compromise their ideals, or throw it all away and ensure the military don't get a hold of their secret.
