Tom Brown lived on his parent's farm near a country railway station. Every afternoon after school Tom would hurry to the station to see his friend Bert the station master. A railway journey years ago was an exciting event. Powerful steam locomotives hauled passenger trains from city to city. Even more powerful locos hauled the freight trains. Tom's favourite pastime was train spotting.
