Triumph or Tragedy is a compilation of true stories written by victims or family members of crimes, sexual assaults, inadequate medical care, and other issues that occur on cruise ships. The purpose of this compilation is to hold cruise lines accountable for the safety, welfare, and provision of medical services to cruise line passengers and crew members. Although described as "floating hotels", the increase in size of many cruise ships now make them equivalent to small cities as they sail across the waters. Americans believe that because they board these ships in U. S. ports of call, they will enjoy all of the rights and privileges of security and medical care that they would experience in a U. S. city of equal size. What they don't realize is that these ships do not come under American law for crime reporting or medical care when the events occur beyond the three mile limit of U. S. territorial waters. This book gives voice to the victims and family members left behind.
