Christmas Lost and Christmas Regained
Robert J Faser
This is a collection of reflections on Advent and Christmas, both as liturgical celebrations for the Christian churches and as a festive season for the popular culture. The 19th century revival of the popular celebration of Christmas within the English-speaking countries is explored. Also explored is the theme (from Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol") of Christmas as an occasion of human ethical transformation, with the possibility of the Christmas celebration bringing out the best in those who celebrate it.
