Publisher Marketing: Sheriff Jake Colton goes after two brothers who murdered his good friend and deputy, Ben Colby, on a Laredo street. The two brothers, Wes and Carl Sanger, had murdered the deputy on the orders of their father, Harry Sanger. After the shooting of Colby the boys rode to their father's ranch to report that the deputy was dead and was sent to visit their uncle Ty Sanger in Crystal City, Texas, to establish an alibi. Sheriff Colton, however, found an eyewitness to the shooting who pointed him in the direction of the Sanger brothers. The sheriff and a small posse rode to the Sanger ranch and found Mrs. Sanger badly beaten at the hands of her husband, Harry, due to her displeasure with what her sons had done. Upon seeing the terrible beating Mrs. Sanger endured, Sheriff Colton took her with him into Laredo to get her away from the vicious man to whom she was married. Meanwhile, the Sanger brothers had met up with a woman and her small son who were on their way to Crystal City as well. The woman hired them to escort her the rest of the way, but soon realizes she may have done the wrong thing in doing so. Sheriff Colton and a couple of his deputies rode directly to Crystal City and were waiting for the boys when they arrived. The boys put up a fight, but were no match for the sheriff and his men. Another taut, exciting Western from the author, Raymond D. Mason.
