Martin, the author of the Warped Ones series, the Gift of Saturn series, and the Ember series, and As We Break, wrote her first novel at age 15 in 2005. The first manuscript was motivated by a request of her grandmother, and Martin read the book to her grandmother, chapter by chapter, until it was complete.
