In this historical novel, based on actual events, the author portrays three strong women; a peasant, a baroness and her daughter. Their peaceful lives are interrupted as the King of Sweden violently invades Bavaria during the Thirty Years War. Events focus on the potential nobility of the three protagonists. The book is uplifting, but not without romance and humor, while emphasizing the importance of loyalty to friends, family, country and one's own personal beliefs. The author includes color photographs which helped him appreciate the place and time of this narrative in fifteenth century Europe. After reading the book you may find it remarkable, as did the author, how another woman, a queen (not a fictional character) brought the conflict to an end.
