All Sandy wanted to do was make a living. She was a private investigator taking care of her 10-year-old daughter living in the hood with her biological mother, who loved to gamble. She would find missing relatives, spy on cheating spouses and occasionally catch a bail jumper. She knew that private investigation work would put her in some tricky situations, but she never imagined bad guys would chase her. That stuff only happened in movies. Sandy gets mixed up with her foster sister, Kayna; an attorney, Michael Singh and his questionable clients, which lead to murder, being on the run from law enforcement and the separation from her child, who she promised she would never leave. A young woman walked in the law office and asked for help in locating her brother. A few days later another woman came in and asked for help locating the same man. Sandy and Kayna are intrigued, while the attorney felt that something was wrong with it. Michael sent Sandy and Kayna to investigate the clients, while he checked on the missing person through his channels. The investigation changed when some men with guns began to chase Sandy, Kayna and Michael. Michael's house, in a posh Fort Worth neighborhood, was blown up and the dead body of a girl was found in the remains. Framed with the murder, the team went underground and set out to solve who was framing them and why. Complicating the matter for Sandy was the attraction brewing from Michael, her only paying client. But her heart was breaking each day she spent away from her child, reminding her of her own abandonment as a child. Also coming home to roost were the demons her foster sister, Kayna was dealing with as they tried to solve the case.
