August 2016 Distribution: Carl Selph was born in south Arkansas in 1931 and was educated in Arkansas public schools and at Ouachita Baptist College, the University of Arkansas, and Columbia University. Since 1950 he has written and published verse, short-stories, and translations of poems from Italian, Spanish, and French. He has taught at the University of Arkansas, Auburn University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, Briarcliff College, the University of Southwestern Louisiana, and, for the University of Maryland, at U. S. military bases in Labrador, Newfoundland, Iceland, the Azores, and Italy. For twenty years he lived in Florence, where he was first a partner in a language school and later, for seventeen years, a partner in an export office. Moving back to the United States in 1985, he sold antiques until 1990, when he settled in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. There for a number of years he designed, built, and sold houses. He has traveled widely and continues to visit Europe frequently. He has had six poodles of various sizes over the years and now has a pair of Yorkshire terriers. This is a revised edition of his Collected Poems. He is also preparing for publication a small book of his translations of the sonnets of Ugo Foscolo, and other poems from Italian and Spanish.
