Publisher Marketing: Ruth Snyder is the owner of a local thrift store in Philly, and she has noticed that a lot of her friends whom she has known since childhood are all dying from one suspicious thing or another. When Ruth brings her concerns about a possible serial killer to the police, they don't believe a word that she is saying. When Ruth is then attacked and nearly killed in her store, detective Timothy Hodges who is a personal friend of Ruth's is then called in as the first detective on the scene. When Hodges interviews Ruth in her hospital room the next day, she tells him that the person who had attacked her was wearing a jacket that resembles one that is owned by Matthew Fisher, a local Mulatto who the two of them both know, but Hodges refuses to believe that Matthew would ever have anything to do with the attack on Ruth, or the string of murders that she has been reporting to the police. During the search of Matthew's home, a lot of physical evidence that is connected to the murders is then found, and detective Hill is now convinced that Matthew is guilty, and she will do anything to prove his guilt, so that he will receive the death penalty before being executed for the murder of a highly decorated Philadelphia Police officer. Robin then hires Richard Marshal, the founding partner of the 'Marshall's Law' law firm to defend Matthew and when Richard looks into Matthew's past, he agrees that Matthew is being framed by a mastermind. After Matthew is released from the Philadelphia County prison on a two million dollar cash bond, another friend of his whom he has known since childhood is then brutally murdered, and the police, and Russell Sumner, the assistant district attorney who is handling Matthew's prosecution is then convinced that Matthew is the killer, and they will now do anything to convict him at trial. During Matthew's trial before judge Cynthia T. Rowland, who is another personal friend of Matthew's, Russell convinces just about everyone that Matthew is the killer, but right before the end of the trial, comes a shocking twist, that no-one hasn't never suspected.
