She would tell how much she would miss him, neatly folding a white handkerchief into her palm to conceal the false tears. But at last it time to leave, opening the bedroom door preparing to greet the child. Pretending to be a mournful mother unwilling to depart with her child. Finally walking down the stairs for breakfast, seeing her son waiting at the foot of the stairs to greet her as he did every morning, she smiled.
