Cassandra Miller finds herself locked in mortal combat with her former childhood friend. The two girls are now on opposite sides politically. Cassie believes in equality for all and in the right to basic freedom, including freedom of religion. Her friend, Daphne, believes the newly formed government -- the Order -- should make all of the choices for its citizens. That includes banishment of most freedoms, and an lifetime assignment to a single cast. Those who disagree with the Order's way of thinking are branded as dissidents. They are left to die with food or supplies, are imprisoned or eventually executed. Cassie is determined that her group -- Children of Freedom -- will prevail and set the people free once again. Daphne is equally determined to destroy anyone who stands in the way of the Order's plans. The question is: Which girl will prevail?
