Too often, the tragedies in our lives cause us to make a detour from our dreams. Feeling that Jessie thinks she?s better than her now that she?s working again, Ruth tries to convince Jessie that Walter would never marry her. Two weeks before Christmas, in his excitement, Roe hurries home to go shopping with his mother, only to discover that she has abandon him for a man she loves who lives in New York. As if Jessie does not have enough problems of her own, she now finds herself caring for ten-year-old Roe Roe in her already cramped apartment. Clarisa falls in love with a fine brother name, Twan. He uses her to bring back drugs for him from New York. Aunt Jessie was in a coma for two days after being robbed and badly beaten up in the vestibule of her apartment building. Upset over Aunt Jessie telling him to move, Clarence goes to see Mr. Scott, Aunt Jessie?s Landlord about renting the empty apartment on the second floor. This way, he can keep an eye on Aunt Jessie and her drinking. Our dreams give us something to look forward to. I have talked to a lot of young black men who do not seem to have a direction for their lives. If they cannot find a job, they often wind up taking the path to selling drugs and often find themselves in prison. Everyone regardless of their age should have some dreams or some goals that they want to achieve in life. I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have raised two children.
