Publisher Marketing: Written in rhyme, with a sense of longing for a child who has gone on her way and left the old tree behind, here is a moving parable: a children book for all ages, giving voice to love and loss, fear and hope, death and rebirth in a new form, as the paper upon which this book is presented. It is sensual and brings forth the sounds and smells of nature. I remember: a gentler sound, The forest rustling in the rain Leaves were swirling all around I heard soft footsteps up the lane... The paintings for the cover and interior pages were done by the Uvi Poznansky. They are watercolor on paper. The text for each verse is hand drawn in pen, in a 'Gothic' font that is as flowery as the tree used to be in its prime. While Gothic fonts are rarely used for children books, the author believes that children would love their highly decorative style, and the way she breaks the formality of the style with sudden long strokes that express the emotions in this story. Uvi presents each verse on a paper leaf, and then floats it over transparent paper in the shape of an ellipse, which symbolizes a puddle of tears at the foot of the tree. Drifting in the puddle under the leaf are the leaves that have accumulated there earlier.
