In 2004 I received a phone call that would change my life. My biopsy results came back positive and I listened in shock as that "C" word was spoken into my life. At the age of 41 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The only thing I could think of was my small children. My oldest daughter was seven and my twins had just turned four. As I gathered my three children around and broke the sad news, and all I could see was fear and despair in their faces, I knew there was a better way to tell a child that their mom had cancer. I sat down the very next day and began to write. I believe to this day that I got breast cancer so that I would be inspired to write this book.
