This book is about small-town America in the 1980's; when people still believed in God and country. It is the story of two families enduring trauma in their lives and how they face it by learning to lean on God and trust Him. Irene Anderson and Alice Barker become friends immediately after Alice moves to Barnesville, West Virginia. Their two children, Emma and Vickie become best friends too. Iren tells Alice that she lost a baby and somehow hasn't been the same since. "Only my faith in God has saw me through such a devastated time," she tells Alice. Alice too has seen her share of pain; losing her husband. Both women, one afraid to try to have another baby and the other fearful of loving again must take the hand of God for guidance in their lives. Will God see to bless them?
