Ta-al is a city built within the hollowed out magic trees of the Great Forest. The people believe they are alone in their land since travelers have not been seen in generations. Something lurks beneath the trees that is taking their magic and leaving them to turn to sand. The city has no answers so it is decided to search the sands. Tamja and Arrzee are called on to help find some answers than can save their homeland. As they search the sands they discover unknown magic. They must learn about their new skills with magic and their feelings for each other as they search for the salvation of Ta-al.
